November 2, 2010 Election
The City of Damascus Mayor and Council Candidate list is now posted for the November 2nd 2010 election. City Council Positions 3 (Andrew Jackman), 4 (Randy Shannon) and 5 (David Jothen) will be up for election on the November 2 ballot as will be the Mayor's (Jim Wright) position. The Mayor term is for two years; all others are four-year terms. More information is available on the Elections web page. Also appearing on the November ballot is Ballot Measure No. 3-367 - Shall Damascus Annex into the Library District of Clackamas County.

Anderson Road Project Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Anderson Road is now reopened to through traffic. The city invites you to celebrate the completion of the Anderson Road project at a RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY on Tuesday, September 7th at 6:00 PM. Check out the work which show cases recent trends in green street designs for porous asphalt paving, storm water treatment, landscaping, street lighting, and sidewalk surfacing. View drawings and photos here. On May 5, 2010, the City received bids from nine construction firms. Damascus Student Wins Statewide Contest
On July 31st Antoinette Santos, a student from Damascus, won a laptop computer at the Oregon Mayors' Association annual conference luncheon for her first place finish in the PowerPoint division of the "If I Were Mayor" student contest.

Interim Urban Forestry Ordinance
On June 7, 2010, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2010-43 which continues a temporary ban on clear cutting of trees in Damascus. The ordinance is in effect until December 16, 2010. Currently the City is working with the Oregon Department of Forestry on a DRAFT Urban Forestry Ordinance which will address all aspects of urban forestry within the city.
