Summer Workshop
Preparation for Concept Planning in the Damascus-Boring area is moving right along! Tuesday, June 24, from 7:00-9:00 PM, is the date and time for the Summer Workshop for the 21 Community Representatives and the alternates as well as representative from the Community Planning Organizations (C.P.O.s). The workshop will be held at the Damascus Assembly of God church where participants will begin to distinguish values and visions for our area. CFD will also offer refreshments and some tools for connecting with neighbors over the summer. Values and visions gathered by the participants from their neighbors will be put to use in the three extended workshops to be held in the fall with other interested parties. If you are interested in being an alternate or would like to be part of you neighborhoods communication team or just want to know who your Community Representative is, please call Diana Lobo at (503) 658-8169.
CFD Funding
How does a group of citizens like those serving on CFD fund its operations? This is a question that faced the committee members a year ago and still faces it today. John Fromwiller, CFD board member, set out almost a year ago to make donations to CFD tax deductible. Early in May he received notification from IRS that CFD had been granted its 501 (c) (3)
status which makes donations tax deductible. What does CFD need funding for and how much? CFD’s mission involves providing information to the community and assisting the community in decision-making. This involves flyers, brochures, postage, printing, facility rental fees for large groups, professional facilitation at community forums, pens, pencils, website hosting fees, banners, display booth materials, insurance expenses, legal expenses, professional services for financial feasibility and more. We expect the final expenses to total about $125,000+ if the community continues to desire self-governance (city). To date we have received $56,000 in grants and about $3,000 from committee member donations. This leaves us $69,000 short. Donations are being sought as one way of meeting the needs. Those wanting to help can make checks payable to “Committee for the Future of Damascus” and mail them to: CFD 12042 SE Sunnyside Rd. PO Box 561 Clackamas, OR 97015 or contact Dan O’Dell at 503-663-4638. The email newsletter has been funded in part
due to a grant from the Mount Hood Economic Alliance
